FROM THE STAFF

The Peace of Christ be with you as you enjoy summertime with families. When we are Christ-centered the seasons come and go but Jesus is with us always. We thank God for His everlasting love.

Thank you for your support of the “Fiesta con Jesus & Concert” on June 24th. It was a great evening of praise, thanksgiving, dinner and fellowship at St. Henry’s Hall. Thanks to your generosity, $3500 was raised for the maintenance of the CCCR during the summer months. God bless you.

Fiesta Con Jesús:

Gracias!

We remind prayer groups and ministries to start planning fall activities now. A Life in the Spirit seminar is always a good tool to bring new people into a personal relationship with Jesus. Growth in the Spirit seminars and teachings using Sister Nancy Kellar’s new manual “There’s Always More: Expecting New Fire” should be scheduled. (Both books are available in the Bookstore).

“You must know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you – the Spirit you have received from God. You are not your own. You have been purchased at a great price. So glorify God in your body (1 Cor. 6:19). May this reminder help you stay focused by glorifying the Lord in every circumstance and keeping your body Holy.

Many thanks to all who prayed for me the last few months as I recovered from surgery. It would not have been possible without your prayers. I, Bishop Tom, will be on vacation the month of August and will return September 6th.  Pray for me as I also pray for you.

God’s blessings to you, your families, prayer groups and ministries.

SPECIAL LEADERS SECTION

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT By Ray Rossman

2005 Part 2

We’re now into the second half of the year and I think we’ve probably forgotten all the New Year’s resolutions that we made so now it’s time to make some new one’s for the last few months.

  1. I will be committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ!  This sounds obvious but many Catholics are more committed to the Church or to Our Lady of Guadalupe. The message of salvation is that Jesus died for our sins and His sacrifice on Calvary has opened the gates of eternal life. While we cherish our Church and we have strong devotion to Our Lady, neither one is the reason we will get to heaven. The last words of Mary in the Bible are: “Do whatever He tells you to do.”
  2. I will ask for a daily dose of the Holy Ghost! “No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” (1 Cor.12:3) Jesus knew that living the Christian life would not be easy and so He sent us His Spirit to give us the power to do it. We have been baptized in the Holy Spirit but we need to call on Him every day to enable us to spread the Good News.
  3. I will be faithful in my daily prayer! Developing and expanding our relationship with Jesus requires a commitment to prayer and Scripture. Make the time in your day to be alone with Jesus and you will soon realize that there is NOTHING you can’t do together.
  4. I will look for opportunities to evangelize! How many people has God placed in your life that are waiting to hear about Jesus and His love? Are you embarrassed to share your life with them? If they arrested you for being an evangelist would they have enough evidence to convict you? Jesus’ command is to spread the Gospel and to be His witnesses – and that means each of us!!
  5. I will be involved in my parish and in Charismatic Renewal. God has blessed us in many ways including our parish and the CCCR. The fire of the Spirit is needed in every parish through committed men and women. You need to spend time with other Catholic Charismatics to keep the fire burning brightly.

There are many other resolutions that can be made and this was not meant to be exclusive or limiting. But I think we need a checklist every now and then to give us a focus for our future.

God bless you. Ray Rossman
