Happy Easter

March 27, 2005

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. I Cor. 15:19-23

FROM THE STAFF:

Bishop Tom Flanagan and Ros Hernandez

"Repent of your sin and be faithful to the Gospel." These words heard on Ash Wednesday set the tone for Lent. As we await the Resurrection of the Lord, avail yourself to the sacrament of reconciliation and be ready to sing Alleluia on Easter Sunday.  It is for love of us that Jesus went through His passion and resurrection and why He gave us Pentecost. Praise to His Holy Name!

God is good! We praise Him for His goodness and His love. He has blessed us abundantly and He continues to look after His flock. Over 1500 people attended the conference and comments made were affirming and encouraging. The conference financial report will be available in the April issue. We are confident that God will meet all our needs for this conference and the next one. Thank You Lord.

Thank you, Charisletter subscribers who have made your annual $10 donation. If you have not yet contributed, use the enclosed envelope. You may also make your pledge donation at this time and mark your check to say “pledge.”

Contributions bless not just those who participate in charismatic activities, but also those who attend healing services, visit the bookstore, seek spiritual growth and the many parishes who are requesting life in the spirit seminars for youth and adults. Evangelization in the power of the Holy Spirit is accomplished thanks to your generosity. Together we work and share the vision:  Renewing the Grace of Pentecost in the Life and Mission of the Church. Thank you for sharing the Vision and helping us accomplish the mission!

Thank you for all you do for the Lord in the name of the Charismatic Renewal. Remember; pray for us as we pray for you. We hope you have a blessed Easter Sunday. May the joy of Easter remain with you forever!

From Ray Rossman

Lent and Easter  - When I think of Lent, I always have had negative thoughts – giving up candy or ice cream – no meat on Fridays – fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Easter always meant that life was good again! But now that I’m finally older and hopefully wiser, I have a new understanding of Lent and Easter means more than ever. Self-discipline is now not a chore but a choice – a choice to allow God to cleanse me of my hang-ups and my addictions so that I may make the smallest step toward holiness.

In 1 Peter God says “be holy as I am holy”. What a challenge! I think death gives us that final push to achieve the holiness that God has asked us to attain, but I think Lent gives us a glimpse of what we can accomplish with the help of the Spirit – the Sanctifier. Our choices in life determine for us the quality and quantity of life that we live and allowing God to have His way with us will lead to a quality of life that is beyond our wildest imagination.

When I look back on the choices that I have made, I realize that those decisions that were made, after I made the choice to pray about them, were the ones that led me to higher ground and into a happier life. Lent is a time to ask the Holy Spirit to point out those relationships that need healing – those addictions that need to be surrendered - those opportunities to love our neighbor that we ignore.

If we make the choice to use this time wisely, our Easter celebration will be a resurrection for us toward the victorious life that God has invited us to enjoy. Jesus gives us the word in John 10:10, “I have come that you have new life and have it abundantly.” God bless you and have a happy Easter!

SUMMER PROGRAMME - From May 2 – June 18, 2005

A seven-week live-in Course will study the whole Bible (Old and New Testaments), but using one-week modules, so that students have the possibility of registering for any individual week(s) or for the whole Course:

Tuition is free. Discounted costs for meals and accommodation at the venue (a beautiful Jesuit Retreat House near the international airport) are only US $20 per week, or US $140 for all 7 weeks. Certificates will be awarded for each module as well as for the whole Course.

Dr. Bob Rice will be coming to San Antonio during August and September 2005. The schedule is filling up quickly. Please call Tony Buentello at 210 340-0777 (office) or 210 684-1291 (home) to schedule Dr. Bob.

Dr. Bob was an Assembly of God minister for more than 30 years. He converted to Catholicism through the Eucharist about five years ago. Our Lord has gifted Bob with a healing ministry that focuses on “Healing through the Eucharist”. Signs and wonders follow as people touch the cloth on the altar, which represents the garment of Jesus.

Dr. Bob was a guest speaker at our conference in February. He also ministered with Fr. Pedro Molina during the healing service.

Youth and Young Adults Section

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of those who agreed to pray for the conference. We could not have done it with out you. Please look forward to a wrap up in the near future telling of all the wondrous workings of our God during the weekend of February 26th and 27th.  Please continue to pray for the youth office, that we may continually stay in and seek the will of the Father in all that we do. The support you continue to give us is truly amazing.
