From The Staff

The peace of Christ be with you and your families and may your Thanksgiving celebration be full of joy. We have so much to be thankful for. Here at the Center the Lord continues to shower us with his blessings thanks to the many volunteers and ministries who give of their gifts to the Glory of God. We are thankful to God for you. Thank you Jesus!

The Leaders workshop on Oct 15 was a great gathering with about 70 in attendance. We received good input from the small group discussions and we will prioritize and try to implement the suggestions. The only disappointment was that some leaders did not come nor did they send representatives.  Unity and staying connected to the overall renewal is very important.  Longtime leaders, we still need you! You have much to offer the church through the CCCR. New leaders, we need your involvement in the over all effort to renew the grace of Pentecost in the life and mission of the Church.

Conferences: For the first time in a long time we will have separate conferences in 2006: English, Spanish and Youth. This is a trial basis to see how it works out.  For unity sake, we have always tried to be together at least at the opening and closing of the conferences but with that come trials and challenges, not to mention the expense for the use of the Convention Center.  We ask for your support by participating in each or all, especially those who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

The English charismatic conference will be February 4th & 5th  at the Cathedral’s SBC Community Center at San Fernando.  See details elsewhere in the newsletter and try to register soon because we need the seed money to reserve the place, reproduction, and mail-outs.

The Spanish conference will be April 21-22, 2006.  More details to come.

Youth Conference will be February 25, 2005 at Holy Trinity Parish (More details forthcoming) and a major youth conference in June 2006.

Have you logged in to our www.cccrsa.net website? All our activities are listed and we have links of interest to charismatic renewal.  Give us your evaluation & suggestions for improvement.

Pope Benedict XVI comments to the Italian Renewal: “Pope Benedict voiced support for an international congress that is being promoted by the Renewal in the Spirit movement in Italy. ‘For this reasons, I congratulate the national coordinator of Renewal in the Spirit for having promoted this significant meeting. I hope the Holy Spirit will meet with an ever more fruitful reception in the hearts of believers and that the “culture of Pentecost” will spread, so necessary in our time’, Benedict XVI concluded.” (Vatican City, 29Sep05, Zenit.org)

We thank God for Pope Benedict XVI and his support and encouragement of the Renewal movements, specifically Charismatic Renewal.  Let’s share this information with everyone in the Church.

Bishop Tom’s annual “Washing of the Hands” will be December 3, 2005 at St. Henry’s, 9:00AM to 11:00AM, followed by the blessing of the Memorial Brick Courtyard and Christmas fellowship at the CCCR. This is a special occasion, come and bring your families and prayer groups.

God’s blessings to you and remember to pray for us as we pray for you.

Special Leaders Section - LIVING IN THE SPIRIT by Ray Rossman

Have you passed first base? We are now in the middle of the baseball playoffs and I think there are some lessons for us to learn from the game of baseball when it comes to our walk with God. There are many people who have been baptized, confirmed and attend mass regularly. These are the Christians who have reached first base. But we know that getting to first base doesn’t win the game. It’s crossing home plate and scoring runs that will decide the winner. Jesus wants all of us to score. He wants us to move along in our Christian walk to get around the bases and reach our final destiny of eternal life with him. The baseball statistic of “Left on Base” is the saddest of all. Those are the ones that reached first base, moved along to second or third but never reached home plate. Now the question must be “How do we score?”

Go for the fences! Hit the home run! When we come to bat for Jesus’ team, we are facing the opponent (Satan’s Sluggers) who will throw us curve balls and spit balls and try every way to put us out and get us back on the bench. But when we use our arsenal of bats – prayer, scripture, service and sacraments – we can overcome anything that the devil may throw at us. Jesus tells us to listen to our manager – the Holy Spirit – to get ourselves around the bases and by our hits to bring others home as well. Spend time before every game warming up by praising God and thanking him for our blessings. Open the daily Word to understand how we will win today’s game. Get involved in your Church and ministry to share the joys of being on Jesus’ team. Finally, go out into your world, tell the good news to others and hit a grand slam. What a great feeling we can have when we stand before Jesus and share the victory and look around us to see those that made it home because we knew how to play the game. Batter Up!

God bless you. Ray Rossman

ADOPT-A-PRIEST PRAYER WARRIORS

Thank you, thank you, and thank you for your faithfulness these past few years praying for our Archdiocesan Priests.

Bishop Tom Flanagan wants to thank all of you for your many prayers by saying A SPECIAL MASS FOR THE PRAYER WARRIORS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2005 AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE CENTER FOR CHARISMATIC RENEWAL CHAPEL 1707 S. FLORES (NEXT TO ST. HENRY’S CHURCH)

Please make every effort to be there on time.  Bishop Tom has several other commitments that day and really wants to let you know how much he appreciates your prayer support for his priests.

Some of you have moved or changed your telephone numbers. I am personally calling each one of you to see if you are still interested in continuing your prayer support and to let you know if any of your priests have died or have moved out of state.  Please, if I leave a message on your telephone, call me back so I can give you this information. It will be a great help to me.

We look forward to seeing you all at the CCCR on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. We will have refreshments after Mass. Thank you again. May God bless you for interceding for your priests!

Mary Ellen Rossman

Recently I was given the task of sitting down and writing out my testimony. I couldn’t help but notice as I wrote that I have so much to be thankful for.  God has done so much for me in this past year.

I challenge you to take some time out of your busy schedule and give Him all of the praise.  This month of November we have the opportunity to thank Him for all He is doing.

We get so busy and consumed with all of the petty things that can go wrong in our everyday lives that we forget all the blessings that God sends us. Be different, be bold. Thank the giver of all good things and know that only He has more blessings in store for you.

Happy Thanksgiving from Katy & the Youth Ministry Office
