Deacon
Alan is truly missed at the CCCR and the many ministries he was involved
in. He was in charismatic renewal since
the early seventies and left a profound gap, especially in the teaching and
healing ministries. He was generous with his talent, time, and treasure. Our
prayers are with Nadine and family. May he rejoice in Heaven!
A
memorial brick on behalf of Deacon Alan will be placed in the Memorial Courtyard
of the CCCR. Anyone wishing to contribute or buy a brick in his memory can send
a donation to CCCR or request a form as mentioned in the newsletter. The cost
per engraved brick is $40. Work on the Brick Memorial Courtyard is scheduled
for completion by 31 October.

FROM THE STAFF
“You are precious in my eyes and glorious, I
love you” (Isaiah 43:4).
What a mighty and loving God we serve! Glory, honor and praise to Him who gives
us life and zeal for the proclamation of the Word and Evangelization in the
power of the Holy Spirit.
As
schools open and the myriad of activities begin, it’s easy to get bogged down
on insignificant and worrisome details and neglect the important things, such
as rejoicing in the Lord regardless of the circumstances. We forget that “The Joy of the Lord is my
Strength!” (Nehemiah 8:10). Be of good cheer, remember Matthew 6:33, “Seek
ye first the
Dr.
Bob Rice and his wife Anita are ministering and conducting healing
services. Look at the enclosed schedule
and try to attend at least one of the services.
There is power and healing in the Eucharist so come with expectant
faith.
The
Service Committee is calling prayer group leaders to update the roster and
offer assistance if needed. Please help
us by calling the Center and confirm that the name, address and telephone
number is correct. If there has been a
change in leadership let us know.
Remember
brothers and sisters, we are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord. The days of Renewal and/or Domingo
Carismatico are supposed to be a time when we all get together as one body to
pray, praise, worship God and receive a talk of encouragement and affirmation
of the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in our groups. Come to these events and invite your groups
and ministries. There is power in unity of body and unity of purpose, for
the glory of God!
We
are looking for volunteers! Volunteers
are needed at the CCCR to answer telephone, work on the computer, bookstore and
other housekeeping duties. If you have a few hours to give a week, call Ros at
226-7545.
May
the blessings of the Lord be upon you, your families, prayer groups and
ministries.

DAYS
OF RENEWAL and DOMINGO CARISMÁTICO
We
need your help! The days of renewal have traditionally been a monthly gathering
of charismatic Catholics who come to pray, praise, and worship the Lord,
receive anointed teachings, healings and fellowship with each other. These
gatherings also encouraged and affirmed us in our ministries and in fulfilling
our vision of renewing the grace of Pentecost in the life and mission of the
church.
Attendance
has declined in recent months and we would like your input as to why that is.
Anyone can respond but we ask leaders to please ask your groups for input, put
it in writing or email so we can review and try to improve. Answers to the
following questions may make it easier for us to evaluate:
A
typical schedule is prayer, praise, worship, time for prophetic word/word of
knowledge, sharing testimony and a talk on a particular topic. It usually ends
with Eucharistic celebration and a healing service.
What
would you change to make it more appealing?
What
recommendations would you make?
Thank
you for your cooperation and help. Your input will help us better plan days of
renewal.

SPECIAL LEADERS SECTION
LIVING IN THE SPIRIT by Ray Rossman
Who cares? Someone once wrote, “The greatest problem
we face today is apathy – but who cares?” I think it is easy for any of us to
get discouraged when we look around us and see major problems facing us
everywhere. International terrorism, abortion, rampant pornography, drug and
alcohol abuse, corporate and governmental corruption are just a few that we
mention. What can WE possibly do to
combat all this evil that surrounds us? One answer is to do nothing! After all,
what difference could my meager efforts make when these problems are so big?
I’m reminded of the quotation from British philosopher, Edmund Burke, who said,
“All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men (and women!) to do
nothing.” Another answer is to say, “I’ll do something.” I’ll write my
Congressman. I’ll support the pro-life movement by money or by attending
marches and rallies. I’ll join an organization that fights for justice. I’ll do
what I can no matter how little it may seem to be. As Catholics we need to be
good citizens and be involved in our world and to take actions to fight against
the injustices and evils facing our society. We must never be called “The
Silent Majority.” But after we write the letters and donate our time, talent
and treasure, we need to employ the best weapon that we have.
Jesus cares! Scripture is filled with stories of Jesus
caring for those that needed help and also of Jesus facing problems head on.
Remember the passages of Jesus confronting Satan who tempted him and also of
Jesus speaking strongly to the Pharisees. He knows the evil that we face today
and he has promised to remain with us to the end of the world. What can’t Jesus
do? What problem is too big for him to deal with? We need to pray that God will
help us to overcome Satan and his evil forces. Pat Robertson on the 700 Club
has asked Christians to pray for our Supreme Court for 30 days? Are YOU willing
to do it? I think that many Christians don’t believe that God has time for such
things or that God feels it’s our problem to deal with – “You got yourself into
the problem – now get yourself out!” Somehow, that doesn’t sound like the Jesus
that I know!! He’s the one who says, “Ask the Father anything in my name, and
He will do it!” He’s also the one who says, “If two of you agree on anything,
it will be done.” We can’t lose courage
or stop praying because we don’t see immediate results, but rather we need that
faith that says that God hears our prayers and will answer them. Let’s unleash
the power of prayer and watch the world change. God bless you. Ray Rossman

PRAISE
REPORT:
On
Nelda
and Pedro Palacios answered the “Prayer Line” phones at CCCR. As soon as the
telephone numbers appeared on the screen, the phones started ringing. Nelda and
Pedro were very busy talking and praying for people. The phones continued to
ring for at least 30 minutes after the show was over. Many people requested
prayers for themselves, as well as for family members and friends.
Pedro
commented, “I believe the Lord will answer all our prayers because of our faith
and the faith of the callers. We expect healings and miracles and good results,
for the Lord is good, all the time. He is the same today, yesterday, and
forever and he always answers the prayers of the faithful. It is a blessing to
pray for Gods people. I feel we received as many blessings as those we prayed
with.”

Pope
Benedict XVI Signals Support for Ecclesial Movements: (Re-printed for Prayer
Groups to use)
"With Paternal Affection," Says Cardinal
in Message to Charismatic Gathering. VATICAN CITY, APRIL 26, 2005 (Zenit.org).-
Pope Benedict XVI will continue to guide "with paternal affection"
the ecclesial movements, associations and communities, which were nurtured by
Pope John Paul II, says the Vatican's secretary of state.
Cardinal Angelo Sodano confirmed the new Pope's
intentions in a message sent Friday to the national congress of Renewal in the
Spirit, which gathered 25,000 people in
The letter, signed by Cardinal Sodano, included
the Holy Father's apostolic blessing. The document expressed the Pope's
satisfaction to send, "at the start of the ministry of the Successor of
Peter," "a special thought" to all those gathered in
"The beloved and venerated John Paul II, a
man full of faith and the Holy Spirit as he was, guided with great care the
path of the ecclesial movements, associations and communities," said
Cardinal Sodano in his letter.
Pope
Benedict XVI Signals Support for Ecclesial Movements: (Continued)
"With paternal affection, His Holiness
[Benedict XVI] wishes to continue this service, so that the gifts that the Lord
dispenses to his Church will be fully appreciated and oriented in the best way
for the building of the Body of Christ which is the Church," the Vatican
secretary of state said.
Pope Benedict XVI assured the meeting "of a
special remembrance in prayer, invoking the heavenly intercession of Mary Most
Holy" so that, "as [in] the first community gathered in the
Cenacle," she will preside spiritually over the "assiduous and
harmonious" prayer of the participants, "obtaining a renewed effusion
of the Paraclete," the letter said.
With a strong call to unity, in remembrance of
John Paul II, and with his thoughts focused on Benedict XVI, Salvatore
Martinez, Renewal's national coordinator, closed the meeting on Monday.
"Benedict XVI tells the truth: The Church
is alive!" he said, recalling the Pope's words on the eve of the solemn
Mass for the inauguration of his pontificate.
Renewal
"will never cease to cry out with the Pope that the Church is alive
because it is inhabited by Jesus Christ alive and animated by the Holy
Spirit,"

But everything exposed
by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible.
This is why it is said: " Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and
Christ will shine on you." Be very careful, then, how you live -- not
as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days
are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with
the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing
and make music in your heart to the Lord,
