From The Staff

We continue our Lenten Season in a beautiful springtime and celebrate Easter with a joyous and special reminder of what Jesus did to show his unending love for us. Praised be His Holy Name!

Thanks to the CCCR Youth Ministry and all who helped them at the youth conference at Holy Trinity Parish, February 25. By all reports, it was a very successful conference with over 400 attending. Thanks also to the staff at Holy Trinity.

The Spanish conference will be on April 21 & 22 at St. Henry’s Hall. We need everyone’s help! Please register to attend as soon as possible. The Service committee, when planning the three separate conferences, pledged to attend all three and get volunteers from the whole renewal (English, Spanish, and Youth) to work each conference. Lets support one another.  If you are bilingual, what a blessing, you get two conferences.

La Conferencia en Español es el 21 y 22 de Abril en el salón de la parroquia de St. Henry.  Vengan a alabar al Señor. Regístrense lo más pronto posible. Tenemos que apoyarnos unos a los otros.

The days of renewal are now better attended thanks to you who have made it possible with your enthusiasm, zeal and commitment. There is a revival taking place!  The Spanish “Asamblea” has definitely come alive. Come back and experience this revival!

The CCCR, with Fr. Pedro Molina and Ros Hernandez, is sponsoring a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Rome, May 25 to June 5. We need 30 registrants to make this a go. The trip includes an audience with Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s as he addresses the Ecclesial movements, similar to Pope John Paul’s audience to the movements in 1998.

If you have not had a Life in the Spirit Seminar, try to have one between now and Pentecost Sunday, June 4, 2006. Invite attendees to come to the Eve of Pentecost celebration Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the CCCR to share their experience. It will be a great time to celebrate in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The use of the charisms on a continuing basis ensures that the renewal flourish in the United States as it is flourishing in other parts of the world.

Thanks to all prayer groups and individuals who donate to the CCCR on a monthly basis. Your generous donation of time, gifts and treasure keeps the Renewal moving. Groups who do not yet send a monthly amount may want to pray and consider doing so. No amount is too big or too small. The Lord will multiply it back to you to and to the CCCR.

God’s blessings be yours this Lent and Easter Seasons.

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT by Ray Rossman

Urgent! Urgent! There’s no easy way to say this – WE NEED HELP! The plain facts are that the Renewal Center is running on empty in our financial gas tank. Our pledges are shrinking! There is no doubt that over the past 20 years the number of Catholic Charismatics in the United States (and San Antonio) has steadily declined. At the same time, the absolute necessity of continuing the mission of “Renewing the Grace of Pentecost in our Church” has become more critical. Statistics have shown that thousands of young Catholics (especially Hispanic youth) are leaving our Church and joining Pentecostal Churches.

Why? The answer is simply that they feel that there is something lacking in the Catholic Church that they find in other Churches. The newspaper reports (recently in the S.A. Express-News) that those interviewed cited vibrant praise and inspired preaching as examples. Another survey in Today’s Catholic reported that less than 20% of our Catholic youth consider God to be “Very Important” in their lives. The Holy Spirit has shown us that the Catholic answer is to renew the Spirit of Pentecost in our Church. To this extent, we need YOUR help!

As leaders, we need to show the way by our example. If you feel as I do, that Catholic Charismatic Renewal is a genuine movement of the Holy Spirit in our Church, then I ask you to show your total commitment to our efforts here in San Antonio.

There are 3 steps that need to be taken immediately.

1)      I ask you to write a check TODAY and send it to CCCR to give us the financial boost that is needed right now.

2)      Secondly, I ask you to fill out a pledge form to show Bishop Tom and Ros that they can count on you to be a COMMITTED supporter of the Center.

3)      I ask you at your next prayer group meeting to urge your members to show their COMMITMENT by doing the same as you.

Fr. Tom Forrest, 78 years young, said it best: “There are many people out there who support many charities, but it seems that only dedicated Catholic Charismatics support the Renewal.” We Charismatics are at the center of the Church and we know we are called to support all of the Church’s ministries. It does indeed seem that only Charismatics support the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – do not let TODAY pass without taking the steps to join us in keeping our Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal on the forefront of the Holy Spirit’s battle plan.

God bless you! Ray Rossman

All Glory, Honor, and Praise to our God forever and ever, Amen!!!

From the CCCR Youth Service Committee Office

There is war for your soul. Souls are Dying. That was the theme for the February 25, 2006 Youth Explosion conference. We are happy to say that the followers of Christ won again. We won the War for Dying Souls. The precious blood of Jesus covered more than 500 youth attendees one more time. The conference took place in the beautiful new hall at Holy Trinity Parish in San Antonio. We thank God for this amazing location. We believe that when God says, Ask and you shall receive. He really keeps His word.

Also, God’s children prayed in the name of Jesus and they all received the love that is unfailing and unforgettable. We learned that God wants to recruit us to be a part of His Holy Army. We all received the message that with Him we can beat any obstacle and shine for Him at all times. Through His love, all is possible. Please keep the “Life in the Spirit” retreat teams and attendees in your prayers.

On March 25, 2006, the “Mountains of Praise” team will be traveling to Del Rio, Texas to present another retreat. We are able to continue this ministry because of your financial and prayerful support of CCCR and the Youth Service Ministry. A $10 monthly donation helps us to reach out to four more young people. Thank you. YSC
