LIVING IN THE SPIRIT by Ray Rossman
Why
go to the conference? As I write this article, we are in the final stages of
preparation for the 2006 Charismatic conference. Over 1300 people will receive
this newsletter and we estimate that 400 will attend the conference. The
automatic question that arises is “Why so few?” For some who work or have
family commitments the answer is “I would like to, but I just can’t make it.”
But sadly, for some, the answer is “I don’t want to make it.” I look on each
conference as a calling and an opportunity for a special blessing. The Holy
Spirit calls those who are part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal to come
together for a weekend to enter into a special time to be renewed ourselves and
to grow a little more in knowledge and wisdom.
Every
prayer group leader knows that he or she is called upon daily to minister to
those that God sends us and we, quite honestly, get tired and need to be
refreshed. The conference is that time to be refreshed. The Spirit is always
present in a powerful way when the Body gathers in praise and worship and the
speakers are selected because they have special gifts to share with us and are
truly the prophets in today’s Church. The focus this year is evangelization –
bringing the love of Jesus to those we meet in every day life. We all have the
calling – we all have the obligation and as someone once said, “God doesn’t
call the equipped, He equips those He calls”.
This
is our time to shine, to celebrate and it is our chance to invite those who
have never heard of the Renewal or who have had some misunderstandings to come.
Come listen to Bishop Tom – a successor of the Apostles! Come and experience
God’s love in a new way! Come and see God healing His people! Come and join in
praise and worship and be renewed!
